Young, Scrappy, and Hungry

I am falling in love with Denver. Today was an incredible day.

First of all, I woke up to mountains outside of my window.

I couldn't stop staring :)

After we got ready, Kym and I walked to City Park so I could run the Bunny Bolt 5K. It was a pretty "hopping" place...pun intended! I was happy with my time today, although it wasn't a PR. I felt like I was flying the last mile...could be altitude sickness, who knows!

After the race, there was free yoga. I usually don't do yoga, but when in Denver :)

I loved checking out a new city.
There were lots of interesting things to see.

As we made our way back home, we stopped at Sassafrass for brunch.
Very southern/New Orleans vibe, and I absolutely loved it! The decor was intriguing--beautiful building, two levels for dining.

Lots of Mardi Gras masks everywhere--and pigs! Took a picture of just one of the ones I saw.

There were also a ton of salt shakers, some eccentric, some normal.

I had a Fried Green Tomato Po' Boy and oh em gee it was to die for!

Post race activities included reading, showering, and an accidental nap that lasted several hours...and by the time I woke up, it was time to get ready for the theater!

On the way to Hamilton, we checked out the 16th Street Mall--I loved everything about it! We visited Tattered Cover, this super sweet bookstore, which was totally up my alley!

But by far, the best part of this incredible day, was finally seeing Hamilton. WHAT A PHENOMENAL SHOW! Many goosebumps, fighting many urges to sing along, entirely impressed by the cast...everything was perfect! Shout out to Kym for procuring some awesome tickets--couldn't have asked for a better view!

What tomorrow holds is unknown--a good day for relaxing and reading, I think. Or maybe not. Adventure awaits!

Touchdown

Made it to Denver! Some cool things to see around the airport. Excited to get to Union Station, grab something to eat, and get my weary traveling butt to bed.

Adventure awaits!

The Mountains are Calling

“Travel doesn't become adventure until you leave yourself behind.”

-Marty Rubin

Today is the day--Denver, I'm coming for you!

I am so stinking excited to get out there and have myself some adventures. My soul needs the fresh air, and the newness of an unexplored city.

I have an outline of ideas of what I want to do, but nothing set in stone. I am going to work on balance--exploring and enjoying and learning everything I can, but also breathing, relaxing, and learning to just BE.

My flight takes off at 8:00PM. I am nearly done packing, which has to be some kind of record :) I definitely enjoyed not waking up to an alarm this morning, and am looking forward to a whole week of this.

I plan to blog about my adventures here, but beyond that, my goal is to have my phone in my hand as little as possible. So follow me here, for the mountains are calling, and I must go. Adventure awaits!

Teacher, Adventurer

So here's the thing.

I'm not great at keeping up with blogs. Or journals. I started this one years ago, when I first started teaching. Admittedly, I would like to get back to it. But today, I am repurposing it.

In 6 days I am embarking on an adventure. As a part of my #30before30 journey, it was suggested that I go on a road trip alone. That was the initial intent. But life (and the universe) have a funny way of telling you what it is they want you to do. Thus, I will be flying out to Denver next Friday and finding some adventures there.

I fly in late Friday night, and hit the ground running on Saturday morning--literally--with the Bunny Bolt 5K a City Park. An early morning and a late night--my incredible cousin scored us some tickets to HAMILTON! I have been obsessed with this soundtrack for about 6 months, and seeing the show will be the highlight of my whole life! (A bit of an exaggeration? Just a bit...)

I've got a ton of other ideas for some adventures while I'm away. Today I purchased the Denver City Pass, which will allow me to 3 days of admission into things like the Denver Zoo, Botanic Gardens, and a couple museums.

It's going to be a long week while I wait for 3:35PM on Thursday, when that final bell before Spring Break rings.

The mountains are calling, and I must go. Adventure awaits!
